Newcastle Sand Bobs Farm Sand Quarry Proposal - Community Survey

This survey seeks to understand community perceptions about a revised proposal for a sand quarry at 3631 Nelson Bay Road, Bobs Farm (Lot 254 Deposited Plan 753204). This site has been subject to a previous proposal for a sand quarry by a different owner. That proposal was withdrawn in 2024, and an option on the site has been acquired by Newcastle Sand (www.newcastlesand.com.au). Newcastle Sand are developing a new, smaller proposal that will have a reduced annual production and shorter life of quarry. Operations would not excavate below the groundwater level or involve dredging activity. Trucks will only enter and exit onto Nelson Bay Road via a purpose built left in/left out intersection. This survey is being undertaken by Key Insights Pty Ltd who is preparing a social impact assessment (SIA) for the proposed sand quarry. Individual responses will not be shared but de-identified collated results will be supplied to Newcastle Sand.
