This survey will help guide the development of a joint Comprehensive Plan for the Village of Nelliston and the Village of Palatine Bridge. While each Village is a separate municipality with its own government, the two communities are partnering to prepare a shared plan that reflects their common opportunities, challenges, and vision for the future while recognizing the unique character and needs of each Village. The Comprehensive Plan will establish a long-term vision, identify community goals, and recommend strategies to guide future decision-making and investments in both municipalities.
What is a comprehensive plan?
A comprehensive plan is a policy document that identifies the goals, objectives, and policies for the immediate and long-range protection, enhancement, growth, and development of a municipality. In this case, the plan will serve as a shared roadmap for both the Village of Nelliston and the Village of Palatine Bridge, while addressing the individual priorities and needs of each community.
Comprehensive plans typically address topics such as:
• Land use & development
• Municipal services & infrastructure
• Economic Development
• Housing & Neighborhoods
• Environment & recreation
• Community identity & character
The plan will establish goals for these and other topic areas and recommend actions to help each Village achieve its vision for the future.

Active, constructive participation from residents, businesses, property owners, and other community stakeholders is essential to creating a successful plan. Your input will help ensure the joint Comprehensive Plan reflects the priorities, needs, and aspirations of both the Village of Nelliston and the Village of Palatine Bridge.
