Community Service Priority Questionnaire

The District of Houston is undertaking one of the most important planning initiatives in its history. As our community adjusts to the financial impacts associated with the closure of the Canfor mill, Council is committed to ensuring that every decision made today contributes to a financially sustainable future for generations to come. This workbook has been developed to provide every resident, business owner and property owner with an opportunity to help shape the future of municipal services.

Your opinions matter!

The decisions that Council makes over the coming months will influence the services we provide, the infrastructure we maintain, the taxes we collect, and the investments we make for many years to come. Before making those decisions, Council wants to hear directly from you. Together, we can build a financially strong and resilient District of Houston.

This survey represents the heard of the District of Houston's Priority-Based Budgeting Initiative. Municipal governments deliver dozens of services every day. Some are visible, such as snow removal, parks, and recreation facilities. Others occur behind the scenes, such as financial management, emergency planning, water system maintenance, and development permitting.

Every service has value. However, every service also requires funding.

Council is seeking your input to better understand which services are most important to residents, where current service levels are appropriate, and where changes may be acceptable.
