The National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates (NBCC) would like to announce the annual search for future Directors/Trustees to serve on our affiliate boards. If you are a current NCC and/or a CCE credential holder who supports the mission of NBCC and its affiliates, we encourage you to apply.
NBCC and Affiliates is made up of three affiliate organizations:
- The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)
- The Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE)
- The NBCC Foundation (NBCCF)
Each affiliate is governed by its own Board of Directors/Trustees that oversees the operations of the affiliate. We are currently seeking applicants for all three affiliate boards to serve beginning July 1, 2023, for a 3-year term with the possibility of serving a second 3-year term.
Applications from those desiring to serve will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Jan. 31, 2023. Candidates with the strongest qualifications will be contacted for further information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How often do the boards meet?
Although additional meetings or teleconferences may be required, as a general rule,
- the NBCC Board has three in-person meetings a year and monthly teleconferences.
- the CCE Board has two in-person meetings a year.
- the NBCC Foundation Board has two in-person meetings a year.
- *Site-based meetings may transition to virtual as conditions require
Is this a paid position?
No, this is a volunteer position for a not-for-profit board.
Is there travel involved? And is that travel reimbursed?
Yes, NBCC and Affiliates pays for all travel-related costs to board meetings and any other meetings deemed part of the affiliate’s board business, such as conferences or training meetings.
Is there international travel?
Yes, international travel is possible, and international experience is very useful. All NBCC and Affiliates Board members need a valid passport.
May I continue my volunteer work, such as on testing committees with NBCC and Affiliates?
No; if elected, board members must confine duties to board activities only.
May I continue my volunteer work on other counseling-related boards?
No; due to the potential for undue influence, if elected, we ask that you not serve on the boards of any other counseling-related organizations.
