Introduction

Purpose of the Study
This study surveys badminton players to assess the incidence and severity of ocular injuries and to evaluate the usage and attitudes toward protective eyewear. The research analyzes demographic risk factors, playing behaviors, and severity of trauma, if any. The findings are intended to identify barriers to eye safety and to provide a foundation for developing targeted prevention strategies and updated safety protocols to reduce ocular trauma in the sport.
What Does Participation Involve?
Participation involves completing an online survey, which will take approximately 5 minutes. The survey will ask about your badminton playing habits, including your level of play and the types of events you participate in, any past experiences with eye injuries or near-misses, and your opinions on protective eyewear.
Potential Risks and Benefits
There are no significant risks associated with participating in this study. Your responses will be anonymized, and all identifying information will be removed to ensure confidentiality. While there are no direct benefits to you for participating, your contribution will help inform future safety guidelines and advance the understanding of ocular trauma in badminton and the use of protective eyewear.
Confidentiality
Your responses will be kept completely confidential. All data will be collected anonymously and stored on a secure, password-protected server. The findings may be published or shared at scientific meetings, but no individual participants will be identifiable in any of the reports.
Voluntary Participation
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time without consequence. However, once the survey is submitted, it will not be possible to remove your data due to its confidential and de-identified nature.
