Status of Indigenous Languages, Education, Resources and Curriculum

The Saskatchewan Indigenous Cultural Centre (SICC) has been awarded the responsibility to conduct research on Sections 8 and 9 of the Indigenous Languages Act focused on First Nations efforts to reclaim, revitalize, maintain, and strengthen First Nations languages. The work will address priorities such as providing language programs and services across various sectors, including education, health, and justice, in alignment with the purposes of the Act.

This survey is designed to gather insights and feedback from educators, community members, language instructors, and other stakeholders on the current state of language education resources and the challenges faced in language revitalization efforts across Saskatchewan. The information collected will inform comprehensive research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing language education and addressing barriers to language revitalization.
