2026 Award for Best Practices in the Wildland-Urban Interface

It is our pleasure to announce and release the call for submissions for the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs’ (CAFC) new Award for Best Practices in Wildland-Urban Interface Planning (WUI).

This award recognizes departments that are advancing best practices within the wildland-urban interface (WUI) through measurable, demonstrable efforts and outcomes at the local, provincial, and national levels.

The evaluation criteria may include:
  • Actual and/or potential impact of the work;
  • How generalizable/applicable the work is;
  • Whether it can be scaled and spread
  • Strength of the case; or
  • Rationale for the award
The winner will be recognized during CAFC’s annual conference, Fire-Rescue Canada (FRC).
