This category recognizes a non-Hispanic individual who has led by example in supporting the progress of the Hispanic community in Central Florida.

Below are the qualifications for an individual to be considered in this category. Only an individual who meets these requirements should be nominated.

Nominee must
:
  • Not be of Hispanic descent
  • Reside or work in Central Florida
  • Demonstrate a history of support for the Hispanic community in Central Florida
Those who do not qualify include:
  • Board members, employees, immediate relatives of employees of Prospera or the Hispanic Chamber
  • Members of the Don Quijote Award Selection Committee
  • Elected officials or those running for office
  • Past award recipients. If your nominee has been a finalist for the Don Quijote Award in the past, but has not won, they may qualify for this award.
The Hispanic Community Champion category will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
  • Demonstrated leadership to further the development of the Hispanic community
  • Community involvement
  • Professional accomplishments
  • Recognitions, honors or awards received

  • This is a competitive process. Remember to market your nominee creatively and effectively describe how he or she meets the evaluation criteria.
  • Founders or executive directors of nonprofits may qualify in this category.
  • Do not include links to videos in your nomination. Links to any external material will not be reviewed by the selection committee.
