USD 388 Lil’ Railers Childcare Parent Interest Form
This interest form is to declare your interest in securing a slot in the USD 388 Lil’ Railers Childcare facility. The facility is scheduled to open on Monday, August 3, 2026.
Completion of this form does not guarantee a spot in the program. Slots, based on required KDHE age-group ratios will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis first for USD 388 staff members and then to the general community. The facility must operate within required KDHE age group ratios. Children not offered a slot will be placed on the wait list.
Moving forward after this initial enrollment, if a school district employee needs a childcare slot, they will move to the head of the wait list. They will not, however, displace a current community child receiving childcare services at the facility.
Preference will be given to full-time slots. Whenever possible we will work with parents to help organize “slot sharing” for part-time care needs. It may be that families can “split a full-time slot”. It could be that one child could take the afternoon session and the other the morning. This could be a good situation for our existing half-day Connections Preschool program, especially since the childcare facility is on school grounds.
At this time, cost of care fees have not been determined. The starting point for these fees will be in line with the average cost of care in the community. We value our current home-based childcare providers and do not wish to under cut their prices. Cost of care will be released as soon as it is available. This program will accept families with the DCF Subsidy program.
Parents will be notified by the end of May 2026 whether they have a slot for their child. If they do not have a slot, they will be advised as to their placement on the wait list.
