The City of Madison received proposals from four finalists for public art at the
Madison LakeWay Project. Members of the community are invited to provide feedback on the proposed designs. Your survey responses will be shared with the Madison LakeWay Ad Hoc Public Art Selection Committee, who will recommend a design to the Madison Arts Commission and the Madison Common Council.
In May 2026 the Madison LakeWay Ad Hoc Public Art Selection Committee selected 4 finalists to proceed to the design phase from a pool of 79 eligible applicants. In June 2025, the finalists attended a site visit, staff meeting, and community meeting where they learned about the site.

About the ProjectThe Madison LakeWay Project will create a legacy civic project by providing a vital link between downtown Madison, adjacent neighborhoods, regional trails, and Lake Monona through improved multimodal access, green infrastructure, gathering spaces, and immersive experiences that reinvigorate the shoreline and promote a thriving lake-edge habitat. This call for art is a partnership between the City of Madison Parks Division, the Madison Arts Commission, and the Madison LakeWay Partners.
The LakeWay Partners are privately fundraising for this project, about 10% of the proposed budget coming from the City of Madison's Percent for Art Program.
