Thank you for your interest in our study!

We are looking for participants for research in parenting, brain development, and risk for anxiety and depression in youth.

You may be eligible for this study if you:
  • You have experienced or suspect you have experienced depression and/or anxiety in your past/present.
  • Have a child aged 12 to 17 who has never been diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety.
  • Live in the Calgary and surrounding area and are able to commute to the Foothills Medical Centre.
Tasks

As a participant in this study, your child would be asked to:

  • Have harmless, non-painful scans of their brain taken (MRI, EEG)
  • Spit/drool in a tube (saliva sample)
  • Fill out questionnaires and complete interviews about their relationship with you, their moods, and things going on in their life.

We would ask you to:

  • Fill out questionnaires and complete interviews about your relationship with your child, their moods, and events in their life.
  • Interact with your child in the laboratory.
  • Spit/drool in a tube (saliva sample)

Time and Compensation

You participation would take up approximately 3-4 hours of your time on one visit (interviews, questionnaires, interaction task), 2-4 hours of your time on another visit (brain scan), and approximately 90 minutes at home (questionnaires, saliva sample).

To thank you for your participation, your family will receive $200, and your child will receive $100, as well as $50 on their birthday. This will happen each year your family participates in the study.

!NEW! We are pleased to announce a new limited participation option. With this option, families will complete a reduced number of tasks (interviews, saliva samples, and questionnaires ONLY) and will receive $150 for approximately 4 hours (total) of commitment.

If you participate, we would contact you again in one year to ask you and your child to participate again and do similar things. You do not have to participate this second time.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out your information below, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible.
