Section 1: Introductory Information

Dear Valuer
You are invited to participate in a study conducted by Refiloe Mokgele, an MSc Property Studies student at the University of Cape Town. The study is being supervised by Saul Nurick from the University of Cape Town, and the findings will be presented to the Department of Construction Economics and Management as part of the requirements for the MSc Property Studies degree. Purpose of the study:
The primary aim of this research is to investigate the key factors affecting the incorporation of green building features and initiatives (GBFIs) in South African commercial property valuations.
Procedures:
Participation is voluntary and if you volunteer to participate in this study, a set of questions in the form of a questionnaire will made available for you to complete.
This has been designed to take 5-10 mins to complete.
As a supplement to the data obtained from the questionnaire, you may also opt to be contacted for a follow up semi-structured interview where various questions related to the questionnaire will be asked. An agreed time that would work for you would be arranged to conduct the interview.
Potential benefits to participants:
The anonymized findings of this research can be shared with you at your request.
Confidentiality:
Stringent measures will be implemented to guarantee the anonymity of participants and protect any confidential information. The utmost confidentiality will be maintained for all collected data. Each participant will be assigned a unique three-character code, comprising a combination of letters and numbers (e.g., R01). These codes will be randomly assigned and hold no connection to personal information or the participant's affiliated organization. The information obtained through the survey will be exclusively utilized for research purposes. The raw data derived from the questionnaires will only be accessible to the student/researcher involved in the study.
Participation and Withdrawal:
At any time during this study, you can opt to withdraw. You may also abstain from answering of the questions you do not wish to answer.
Rights of research participants:
You may withdraw your consent at any time and discontinue participation without any penalty. This study has been reviewed and received ethics clearance from the University of Cape Town.
Consent of Research Participant:
