The 2026 Award is focussed on inclusive leadership and community engagement, recognising an individual(s) whose leadership has demonstrably fostered greater inclusion and community engagement. The award celebrates those who are building bridges between diverse groups, breaking down barriers, and creating opportunities for underrepresented communities to participate in and benefit from ocean stewardship.
Key Dates:
  • Nomination deadline is 12:00 GMT on 7th November 2025
  • The winner will be invited to receive the award at the Coastal Futures conference in London on 28th January 2026.

We are looking for specific examples that demonstrate the effect of their work and the positive change they have brought about. How have their actions led to a lasting outcome or created a positive benefit for others?

The Award judging panel will consider nominations using these five areas to guide their decision making:
  • Dedication to ocean and coastal management.
  • Demonstration of significant impact.
  • Bringing people together to achieve a collective goal towards sustainability.
  • Leadership and role model through practice and professional development.
  • Empowering others from diverse backgrounds.
