Empower Gwinnett (formerly Career Starts Here) was established in 2022 as Gwinnett County Government’s summer internship program for youth ages 15 to 21. The program is designed to prepare the future workforce by providing the opportunity for them to gain valuable, real-world experience through a four-week paid internship. Empower Gwinnett participants are given leadership training opportunities through workshops and on the job training.
Participants complete the program with a full understanding of County functions and services. This program is the perfect opportunity for those who may be undecided about their careers. Our hope is that participants will envision the County as a future career option or their employer of choice.
