Event Overview

Across New York City, women and gender-expansive people of color are experiencing the impact of climate change and increasingly severe weather events. Though there are policies in place to ameliorate the impact of a warming planet, there is a gap between these ideals and the realities women and gender-expansive people of color face, particularly in residentially segregated, historically marginalized neighborhoods.

The New York Women’s Foundation conducted a landscape analysis which presents a set of recommendations to implement equitable approaches to mitigating the climate crisis while allocating resources to communities as they deepen their climate resilience.

Join us for a discussion with the report’s author and leading environmental justice advocates on:
  • Economic benefits of green industries engaging women and gender-expansive people of color in urban settings
  • Community leadership in decision-making regarding public land use, green infrastructure, urban farming, and renewable energy
  • Pathways for collaboration and investment among funders, community members, youth leaders, and policymakers to advance environmental and economic justice
We hope to see you at the event! For questions or more details, please contact Dana Huber, Director, Programs and Strategic Learning at The New York Women's Foundation (dhuber@nywf.org).
