Substance use disorder (SUD) and drug overdose continue to impact Kansas. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) reported that 559 Kansas residents died from a drug overdose in 2024. Although this represents a decrease from 2023, ongoing work is needed to build upon these improvements.
The Kansas Prescription Drug and Opioid Advisory Committee is conducting a survey to inform development of the next Kansas Overdose Prevention Strategic Plan. This survey aims to understand how Kansans view substance use and drug overdose, and it includes questions about awareness, community needs and resources, state priorities, and policy considerations.
Survey participation is voluntary. Kansas residents ages 18 and older are eligible to participate. This survey should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous. Please complete the survey by August 7, 2026.
