This event is one of the Center for Equity & Justice's signature annual events honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through meaningful dialogue that inspires reflection, connection, and collective action. Each year, this gathering brings together thought leaders, advocates, and community members to explore contemporary issues of equity and justice.
This year's event will be about “Third Spaces: Building Belonging Beyond Home and Work."
Our keynote speaker is Eric Klinenberg, sociologist and author of Palaces for the People: How Social Infrastructure Can Help Fight Inequality, Polarization, and the Decline of Civic Life. His groundbreaking work examines how shared spaces such as libraries, parks, and schools can strengthen democracy and build resilience by fostering belonging beyond home and work.
Following the keynote, local and regional community leaders will join the conversation to reflect on the role of inclusive, accessible “third spaces” in nurturing connection, civic engagement, and a sense of belonging for all.
Join us for an evening of dialogue, learning, and inspiration as we continue the work of building a more just and connected society.
