The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is reconstructing a 0.7-mile segment of Vermont Route 2A (VT 2A), from Meadowrun Road to just south of River Cove Road. Project improvements include roadway widening, milling, and paving, and the installation of new stormwater treatment systems, traffic signals, curb, sidewalk, pavement markings, signs, street lighting, and landscaping. A key feature of the project is the redesign of the VT 2A and Industrial Avenue/Mountain View Road intersection to accommodate an additional left-turn-only lane on Industrial Avenue, an additional through lane on VT 2A northbound, and a left-turn-only lane on Mountain View Road. The new traffic signals will enhance bicycle and pedestrian facilities at the intersection.
Construction began in late March 2025 with roadway widening and reconstruction (curb, sidewalk), drainage improvements, and traffic signal upgrades along VT 2A between Meadowrun Road and Industrial Avenue, Industrial Avenue, and Mountain View Road. Work hours were primarily Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Traffic was managed through lane reductions and lane shifts, alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers during off-peak hours, and a short-term westbound traffic restriction on Mountain View Road.
Construction will resume in spring 2026 to complete roadway widening and reconstruction on VT 2A between Industrial Avenue and just south of River Cove Road. Next season’s planned activities also include installing new stormwater treatment systems, paving the final wearing course, installing permanent pavement markings and signage, and completing the installation of the remaining curb, sidewalk, streetlights, and landscaping. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2026.
As this first construction season concludes, the Project Team invites your feedback on construction impacts and outreach efforts to help us facilitate better communication and satisfaction for the remainder of construction.
