SUMMARY
This is an introductory experience into the thoroughbred horse industry. Students will learn about career pathways across the industry with a focus on horse-breeding, racing and equine veterinary nursing. Students will acquire skills through practical training at Scone TAFE and witness industry activities of interest, followed by work experience if desired.
This is a program that supports students in gaining casual employment, in job roles such as:
Assisting at Stables, Foal Watch, Stud Hand, Yearling Sale Preparation, Farm and Garden Crews.
Post-school opportunities include: Traineeships in Horse Breeding or Racing, Veterinary Nursing (equine stream), Agriculture and Horticulture.
DATES
Monday 15th - Friday 19th August: Immersion Program
Monday 22nd - Friday 26th August: Optional Work Experience in a Thoroughbred Breeding or Racing business.
ELIGIBILITY
Year 10 - 12 school students with permission from their school can apply
