Community Survey

The City of Fullerton is preparing a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA 2000) requires an approved hazard mitigation plan to be eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hazard mitigation grant funding. Receipt of FEMA grant funding is critical to implementing mitigation projects and programs.

The LHMP provides a framework for our community to reduce vulnerability to natural hazard events such as earthquakes, droughts, floods, and wildfires. The purpose of mitigation planning is to identify programs and take actions that can be implemented over the long term to reduce risk and future losses when an emergency or disaster occurs. Mitigation plans form the foundation for a community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses, and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage.

Your participation in the planning process is extremely important and vital to the success of the LHMP update. To identify and plan for future natural disasters, we need your feedback!

This questionnaire is designed to help the City gauge the level of knowledge the community has about natural disasters and human-caused hazards, and to obtain your input about areas that may be vulnerable. The information you provide will help us identify hazards of concern and coordinate projects focused on reducing the risk to community facilities from future hazard events.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is anonymous. Your information will be kept confidential. The results of the survey will be included within the updated LHMP.

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this information-gathering process.
