Introduction
The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) develops and maintains its examinations to meet or exceed the international standards for credentialing bodies. To ensure that ISA credentials remain valid assessment tools and consider the latest developments in each program or specialty, we routinely identify and evaluate the knowledge and skills necessary for competent practice within each practice and related ISA credential.
ISA is currently undertaking this process for the ISA Certified Arborist Utility Specialist® credential. The first step, which has already been completed, was to have a panel of industry experts identify the essential responsibilities for utility arboriculture, develop a list of tasks, and identify the knowledge and skills required to competently perform those tasks.
The panel identified five (5) topics across the domains and 19 tasks that were considered essential for professionals working in this field.
In this survey, you are being asked to provide your input on the domains and tasks. The survey should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. ISA certification holders who complete the survey in its entirety may opt in to earn 0.5 CEUs for completing the survey.
We greatly appreciate your participation in this survey. All responses will be kept confidential, and your individual responses will not be released; only aggregated responses will be provided to ISA.
You will not need to complete the survey in one sitting and can return multiple times. Your responses are saved whenever you advance in the survey. If you would like to save the responses on the current survey page you are completing, click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page before closing the survey in your browser. You can re-enter the survey at any time (prior to the survey close date) to finish.

Survey Incentive
Three (3) survey participants will be awarded the Introduction to Arboriculture Training Series (with value of over $500 USD for and with opportunity for earning up to 50 ISA CEUs for completion) through a drawing. To be eligible, you must complete the survey in full and provide your first and last name, and email contact at the end of the survey. The winner will be selected and contacted by 31 May 2026.
