Ideas Marketplace Overview

Overview: Immediately following the second session of every week of CRISPRcon, we will hold a 30-minute Ideas Marketplace, where volunteer hosts will lead other CRISPRcon participants in informal discussions on a topic of the host’s choice. We are soliciting volunteers to lead table discussions.

Host responsibility: Table hosts will be asked to come prepared with some guiding questions to ensure a productive discussion, but also to be flexible about the direction of the conversation. We hope the discussions will be dynamic and interesting, but also casual and fun!

Deadline: We are currently accepting submissions for all weeks. Dates are listed in Eastern Daylight Time (UTC−04:00).
CRISPRcon Theme Discussion Date Submission Deadline
Science and Societal Narratives September 3 August 14
Race and Health Equity September 17 August 20
Hope and Hype October 1 September 3
Equity, Environment, and Agriculture October 15 September 17
Priority and Agenda Setting October 29 October 1

Selection process: When we select the volunteers for a given week, we will notify all those who submitted ideas for that week. You will be notified that your topic was selected no later than two weeks before the session. We will choose table hosts based on their topic’s relevance for that week and the estimated number of participants, with consideration for diversity of hosts and topics for that week’s Ideas Marketplace. Unfortunately, we may not be able to accept all submissions.

Additional guidance: For those who will be leading a session, we will share a guidance memo with more detail about what to expect. In the meantime, please email if you have any questions.

Thank you for helping us make CRISPRcon 2020 interactive and engaging!
