Who should take part in this survey?

This survey is for health and care professionals working across all four UK nations, whether you work in the NHS, social care, independent or private providers, community and primary care, universities, or the voluntary sector.

We want to hear from three groups:

  • Internationally Educated Nurses and Midwives (IENMs) – nurses and midwives who gained their initial registration outside the UK and now hold NMC registration to practise here
    • IENM supporters – including international recruitment leads, Stay and Thrive leads, preceptorship coordinators, professional development leads, clinical managers, and others involved in recruitment, integration, retention, and career development
    • Diaspora community members – individuals who share a common country, region, or heritage of origin and now live in the UK, often providing professional, cultural, and community support for IENMs
    Why we're doing this survey

We want to understand your experiences and gather insights on:

    • The journey of IENMs into UK health and social care
    • Available support and opportunities
    • Barriers to development, progression, and leadership
    • What helps with retention and belonging

Your feedback will directly shape policies and practices to improve support, fairness, and opportunity for internationally educated nurses and midwives.
