Guidance notes for Grant Application Form

  1. The London Mathematical Society has set aside funds to be used for making grants to support the attendance of UK-based mathematicians at the ICM 2026 in Philadelphia from 23-30 July 2026.
  2. The grants are intended to contribute to the costs of attending the ICM 2026, not to meet them entirely. The grants are not to support attendance at Satellite meetings.
  3. Applicants should be established mid-late career mathematicians, defined as being beyond five years since their PhD completion (excluding career breaks), based at a UK institution.
  4. You do not need to be an LMS member to apply.
  5. The application form should be completed by the applicant; the link to the referee form should then be passed to a supervisor or Head of Department (or equivalent) for the completion and submission to the LMS.
  6. Applications should be submitted by 30 November 2025 and will be acknowledged by email. Applicants will be informed of the outcome by email before the end of January 2026 so that they can take advantage of the ICM 2026 early bird registration fee.
  7. Applications will be acknowledged by email.
  8. If your application is successful, you will be sent a ‘grant offer and claim form’ to complete.
  9. Grants will only be paid in arrears on receipt of a completed claim form and proof of travel.
