HSDS User Needs Survey - Year 2

Survey introduction
The Heritage Science Data Service (HSDS) is a new national platform designed to support heritage science research across the UK. Developed by the Archaeology Data Service (ADS) in partnership with the Science and Technology Facilities Council's Hartree Centre, and a consortium of key UK heritage bodies covering England, Scotland and Wales, HSDS provides access to heritage science data and research resources (such as equipment and reference collections) for practitioners, researchers and institutions across all sectors.

As HSDS continues to develop, we want to understand how well it is meeting the needs of the heritage science community — and where potential improvements could be made. This survey is part of an ongoing user needs research programme run by the National Heritage Science Forum (NHSF) and builds on a survey conducted in Year 1 (2025).

The survey takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete. Your responses are anonymous unless you choose to provide your contact details at the end. Results will be used to inform HSDS development priorities.
