This 3-hour taster course, designed for members of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), is the first AI-focused course offered by the institute.

The course aims to explore with participants the potential of AI from concept, design, to architectural visualisation. The objectives include reflecting on industry challenges, understanding the basics of AI, learning to use simple AI platforms, and integrating different resources into a design pipeline. Additionally, participants will reflect on how AI can be integrated into current practices to enhance efficiency and innovation.

The course features practical hands-on sessions where architects learn to apply AI tools, as well as discussion sessions where participants collectively explore the potential of AI in design. This collaborative approach encourages sharing experiences and insights, fostering innovation and cooperation amongst architects for future technology applications. The outcome would also ensure that forthcoming courses are tailored to architects' needs, culminating in a HKIA CPD Research report on “AI for Architects”, sharing the technological application knowledge to all members.

As AI becomes increasingly influential in various industries, this course equips architects with the necessary knowledge and skills to leverage AI tools effectively, aligning with the growing trend of AI adoption in architectural practices worldwide.
