Project Introduction:
The Village of Algonquin is developing a comprehensive master plan for High Hill Park & Nature Preserve. A master plan is a comprehensive, long-term planning document that outlines the vision, goals, and strategies for developing, managing, and improving a park facility. It is a roadmap for future park design, land use, facility development, recreational programming, environmental conservation, and community engagement.

The purpose of the master plan is to ensure that the park meets the community’s current and future needs while preserving natural and cultural resources.

Background:
High Hill Park and Nature Preserve in Algonquin spans 29 acres, with 8 acres of active park space and the remainder naturalized, offering a unique blend of recreation and natural beauty. The park is divided into two sections. The southern park, located on Harnish Drive between Providence Drive and Roaring Brook Lane, features a neighborhood playground, shelter, swing set, and sand pit. A winding path leads down a long hill to the northern park, which boasts a large open field for team sports and a walking path. In between these sections lies the tranquil nature preserve, complete with a lake and stream. From the top of the park, enjoy a scenic view of the surrounding area.
