HC30 Community Survey Who is United Way of Henderson County?United Way of Henderson County (UWHC) is a human services nonprofit that has been organizing and mobilizing resources in our community since 1953. UWHC is committed to investing in equitable, collaborative solutions to critical community needs to improve lives of Henderson County residents.We see through our work that a growing number of households above the poverty level are having an increasingly difficult time affording basic expenses. We're confident you have friends, colleagues, neighbors, or relatives living paycheck to paycheck. Perhaps this describes your situation now or a one you've lived through. The name we're using to describe these households is ALICE.Who is ALICE?We know that more than half of the population in Henderson County struggle to make ends meet. That means that at least 1 in 2 people are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed -- or ALICE. Henderson County's ALICE percentage is higher than the average for both North Carolina and the United States. Learn more about what we mean by ALICE here.How should UWHC support ALICE?HC30 is our five-year strategic planning process to define the UWHC target issue areas for community impact through 2030. To date in the HC30 process, UWHC has reviewed local data and held discussion and input sessions with representatives from more than 40 organizations including local nonprofits, food pantries, faith leaders, and community and civic leaders. Through data review and listening sessions, we were able to identify some of the biggest gaps in community supports for ALICE. Now we need to hear from you! We're asking community members to take this brief survey to prioritize where United Way of Henderson County should invest to make the biggest impact in the gaps identified below.
