Dear Chugiak and Eagle River Families, Staff, and Community Members,

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work to enhance the educational experience for students, families, and staff directly affected by the earthquake.

Background:

Following the November 30 earthquake, the District relocated Eagle River Elementary School (ERES) and Gruening Middle School (GMS) programs to other area schools due to damage in their buildings. The District is waiting to receive final engineer reports on these buildings, however, ASD has been informed that the buildings will be unavailable for use during the 2019-2020 school year.

Purpose and Intent:

The purpose of this survey is to seek community comments and recommendations concerning options for the next academic year (2019-2020) for ERES and GMS.

Criteria that must be considered in a short-term solution includes but is not limited to enrollment patterns, transportation issues, financial costs, and parent and community interest.

Long-term options will be surveyed at a later time. Frequently asked questions (FAQ) and information about various options are located on the Anchorage School District website under the Hot Topics page.
