PLEASE READ GUIDELINES CAREFULLY BEFORE COMPLETING THIS APPLICATION
The on-time application window is Monday, September 29, 2025, to Friday, December 5, 2025.
All applications must be completed and received no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025.
1. Please submit only one application per child. If you need to update any information after submitting an application, you must visit Central Registration to make the changes. Only the first application received will be processed.
2. This application is to be completed for elementary school students entering grades 3Y - grade 8. Please note there is a separate application for Frederick Law Olmsted #156 and City Honors School #195.
3. Parents/caregivers must submit one application for each child.
4. Only select school(s) you are interested in your child attending as all school assignments carry a one-year commitment.
5. If current BPS students are not selected for any of their choices, they will remain in the wait pool until Friday, October 23, 2026.
6. If a student is selected for any of their school choices, they will not remain at their current school. This includes students attending #64 (transitioning to #156), #156, #192, and #195. ONLY submit an application if you wish your child to attend a different school for the 2026 – 2027 school year. School assignments carry a one-year commitment.
7. Applications for NON- BPS students will continue to be accepted after Friday, December 5, 2025.
8. The application deadline date for current BPS students is Friday, December 5, 2025.
9. No changes can be made to the submitted application after the deadline date of Friday, December 5, 2025.
10. School placement is conditional upon students successfully passing their current grade.
11. Lottery placements are conducted through a random computerized system when there are more applicants than available seats for applications submitted on or before the deadline date of December 5, 2025.
12. For applications submitted after the deadline date of December 5, 2025, students will be placed according to date received based on seat availability.
13. Assignments to criteria-based schools are determined based on the established criteria for the school.
14. Specialized programs for students with special education or bilingual language needs may not be available in all schools.
15. English as New Language (ENL) services are available in every Buffalo Public School.
16. All assignments carry a one-year commitment. Your signature on the application will serve as acknowledgement of this commitment.
17. Waiting pools will remain active until Friday, October 23, 2026. Waiting pools for 3Y and Pre-kindergarten will remain active throughout the school year.
