City Hall splash pad

In June of 2023, severe flooding damaged the play fountain (splash pad) in front of City Hall. The City of Fountain later received a grant from FEMA to replace the structure. However, if another splash pad were to be built, updated health codes would have also required the addition of chemical and UV filtration tanks, fencing, and nearby restrooms or a bath house. The grant would not have covered those extra amenities.

So the Fountain City Council opted to go with more of a traditional fountain and considered a series of different designs before narrowing down the field to just two options.

Both options are intended to commemorate the 2026 celebration of America's 250 years of independence (1776), Colorado's 150 years of statehood (1876), and Fountain's 50 years since become a home rule municipality (1976).

The Yule marble stones in the center of the fountain are from the same slab that originated in Marble, Colorado and was used to create both the Lincoln Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington DC. Both designs include etchings on the stones, and metal medallions to recognize the 250/150/50 anniversaries.

We appreciate everyone taking the time to learn about the designs and choosing your preferred option below.
