The City of Southport is working on a Multimodal Project Acceleration Plan. This project will recommend transportation projects that will make it easier and safer for people to walk and bike in the community. These projects can include new sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes, or shared-use paths that connect neighborhoods, schools, parks, and downtown areas. By improving options for walking and biking, multimodal projects help reduce reliance on driving, enhance safety, and create more connected, accessible, and vibrant places to live and visit.

This plan builds on past efforts such as the City of Southport 2050 Comprehensive Plan and the Brunswick County Comprehensive Transportation Plan (2024) and will help set priorities and define clear steps to move projects toward implementation. It also provides an opportunity to create a Southport-specific strategy that addresses identified needs while advancing community goals. The study area includes the Southport city limits (see below).

By completing this survey, you’ll help the project team understand the community's priorities for multimodal investments.
