The Junction Mixed-Use Development Survey

Introduction

A new mixed-use development is being planned for The Junction.

A planning proposal has been prepared for the 2195 square metre site on the corner of Union Street and Kenrick Street. The proposal is to create new homes, retail and commercial spaces to meet the needs of the community.
Currently an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being developed, which if the project is approved, will include:
  • a mix of 1-bed, 2-bed and 3-bed apartments
  • secure basement parking
  • retail and commercial spaces for cafes and shops
What approval is required for the proposed development to go ahead?

The Junction proposal will be assessed as a State Significant Development (SSD). Currently the project team is developing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to meet the planning requirements and relevant guidelines.

The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) will assess the application.
