Building on the legacy of the Scottish Rock Art Project (ScRAP), a series of workshops, funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh, will be held across Scotland in 2025 in order to explore future research into Scotland’s rock art.
These workshops will be used to develop new thematic sections of the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework to complement Future Thinking on Carved Stones and the regional research frameworks.
In advance of these workshops, we are looking to capture people's thoughts and priorities for future research relating to rock art across Scotland. Your views will feed into the workshops, help to structure the final framework, as well as guiding future research in this area.
Please use this survey to tell us what you believe to be key archaeological research questions for rock art in your area, or broader questions that you would like to see addressed or tackled in the future. Your questions should aim to address identifiable gaps in our current knowledge and understanding.
All submissions will be anonymous.
