German Company of the Year 2026

GOLDBECK SOLAR Investment

Since 2022, GOLDBECK SOLAR Investment Ukraine, part of GOLDBECK SOLAR Investment from Baden-Württemberg, has been developing, financing, constructing and operating energy projects in Ukraine. The company entered the market with the aim of developing and constructing up to 500 MWp of hybrid solar PV and battery energy storage projects. In 2024, GOLDBECK SOLAR Investment established an equity joint venture with the EBRD and secured financing from DEG.

In 2024, the company secured its first solar project in Ukraine. The 24 MWp plant was completed in May 2026 and commenced commercial operation in July 2026. The company aims to combine solar PV generation with battery energy storage systems to increase flexibility and support grid stability. A battery storage extension with a capacity of 40 MWh is currently being developed alongside the operational solar plant. The plant is equipped with bifacial photovoltaic modules, which improve energy yield by capturing solar irradiation on both sides of the modules.

The land plot used for the project was a previously unused agricultural field. GOLDBECK SOLAR Investment Ukraine conducted a biodiversity survey before and during construction. Following completion, the creation of a local wetland area contributed to an increase in bird diversity and population at the site. The project supports local communities through employment and the provision of a 79 kW solar installation for a local water treatment facility, benefiting more than 6,000 residents by enabling continued operation during power outages.

AHK Ukraine assessment
By building and commissioning a 24 MWp solar power plant during wartime, GOLDBECK SOLAR has made a great contribution to Ukraine’s economy and its energy resilience. The company combines German renewable energy expertise with local partnerships and international financing. With its planned battery storage and support for local communities, it demonstrates long-term commitment to Ukraine.

KÄRCHER

KÄRCHER Ukraine was established in 2006 and currently employs 265 people. Despite the war, the cleaning technology manufacturer from Baden-Württemberg has expanded its business, increasing turnover from EUR 32 million in 2021 to EUR 51 million in 2025. Gross sales grew another 13 % in January–July 2026 year-on-year. Since 2023, KÄRCHER has invested over EUR 3 million for a new office and close to EUR 300,000 for the development of its Competence Centre and a new car wash in Kyiv.

The Competence Centre provides space for equipment demonstrations, training and meetings with customers and partners, while the company further expands its network of franchised KÄRCHER Centers. Recent innovations include cleaning robots such as the KIRA B 200. AI-supported automation reduced the workload of sales support processes by around 30% and increased the speed of invoice processing by 20%. KÄRCHER’s 80 kW solar installation covers around 11% of the company’s electricity needs. The company plans to add 30 kW solar installation and an 80 kWh battery storage system.

Through “KÄRCHER Cleans Ukraine”, the company provides free cleaning services for war-affected cities like Bucha, Irpin, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv. It also supports cultural heritage preservation projects and youth sports: with KÄRCHER’s support, the Hatne sports community engaged 740 young athletes across eight disciplines and organised twelve major sporting events over the past year.

AHK Ukraine assessment
KÄRCHER Ukraine is an outstanding business success, growing strongly throughout the full-scale war. Business success goes along with investment, innovation and sustainability. The company contributes to Ukraine’s resilience through automation, energy efficiency and resource-saving solutions. Its social initiatives in communities affected by the war underline its long-term commitment to Ukraine.

KREISEL

KREISEL, part of the FIXIT GRUPPE from Bavaria, has been operating in Ukraine since 2004 and currently employs 130 people in the country. The building materials manufacturer opened its first Ukrainian plant near Kyiv in 2008. In 2025, KREISEL commissioned a second plant in the Lviv region, following an investment of EUR 14 million. The new facility more than quadrupled the company’s production capacity in Ukraine. KREISEL achieved a revenue growth of over 17% in the same year.

The Pisky plant is equipped with an automated production line and a 51-meter vertical production tower with integrated silo systems, making it the largest and most technologically advanced production facility within FIXIT GRUPPE’s network of 53 plants. The automated production process enables one five-person shift to produce around 300 tons of finished products. KREISEL also develops energy-efficient building solutions, including façade insulation systems that contribute to lower energy consumption.

KREISEL works on making its business and Ukrainian society more sustainable. Increasing the number of bags per pallet from 42 to 54 reduces annual pallet demand by more than 30,000 units. Through its KREISEL Academies and cooperation with vocational schools, the company provides practical training for construction professionals. In 2025, 644 participants completed KREISEL training. The company cooperates with four vocational education institutions and supports educational initiatives through a three-year programme co-financed by the German development bank KfW.

AHK Ukraine assessment
KREISEL demonstrates long-term commitment to Ukraine through continued investment in manufacturing capacity during wartime. The company increased its market share during the war and its financial performance is among the best in FIXIT GRUPPE. The plant strengthens local production for reconstruction, while energy-efficient construction solutions, resource savings and professional training support sustainable growth.
