2026 Alberta Health Care Aide Registration Exam Development Volunteers |
We are currently gathering expressions of interest from Health Care Aide (HCA) subject matter experts (SME) to participate in the development of the Alberta Health Care Aide Registration Exam (AHRE).
Exam Development activities this year will include writing exam items (questions) based on the new HCA Entry Level Competencies, Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and New Revised HCA Regulation Curriculum. These full week sessions will take place June 15-19, and June 22-26.
Standard Setting sessions will also take place which involve reviewing and approving new exam questions and determining each exam item’s level of difficulty. These full week sessions will take place Oct 15-19 and Oct 26-30.
Participation from SMEs across different sectors (educators, clinical practice, regulation, employers, supervisors, etc.) related to HCA education and work is crucial to development and maintenance of the AHRE. If you consider yourself a SME on HCA education and practice and are available to come to the CLHA office in Edmonton on any of the above full week session dates, please fill out this survey and tell us more about yourself. Once the survey closes, you will be notified by email if you have been chosen to participate.
