Oro Loma Sanitary District (OLSD) and Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) are updating their Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). These organizations provide sewage treatment and solid waste disposal services to communities in central and coastal Alameda County.
HMPs help organizations like OLSD and CVSan build resilience and reduce vulnerabilities. They identify natural and human-caused disasters while describing potential risk. HMPs then list actions that can reduce the threats that these hazards pose to our water and sewer systems. An up-to-date HMP allows organizations to remain eligible for State and Federal grants.
Examples of natural disasters include earthquakes, wildfire, floods, and severe storms. Examples of human-caused disasters include cyberattacks and power loss events.
