Draft Masterplan for Fraserburgh Harbour

The Draft Masterplan for Fraserburgh Harbour sets out a vision and strategic framework for the development of infrastructure at Fraserburgh Harbour over the next 20 years, supporting growth in existing markets as well as facilitating and attracting new business.

The Draft Masterplan comprises the following proposals:
  • New South Harbour incorporating deep-water berths, additional quayside space and a new dry dock
  • Extension to the North Breakwater to¬†improve wave climate for the existing and new harbour areas
  • Widened entrance to Balaclava Harbour
  • Improved access to Faithlie Harbour and Fish Market (wider entrances and deeper water)
  • Enhanced shiplift facility (additional cradles, all-weather cover and boat hoist)
  • Additional pontoons and a drying out berth
  • Identified areas within the harbour estate for development
The Masterplan is a 'blueprint', the identified proposals are not set in stone - they will be defined in more detail with regard to exact design, location, layout and construction method during the feasibility stage. The next stage in the process will be the development of an Outline Business Case to understand in more detail the economic and financial impacts of the proposals, and to identify potential funding options.
