Introduction
Launched in partnership with Jacobsen in 2016, the Future Turf Managers Initiative provides opportunities for sports turf managers to develop the leadership and management skills required to become a successful leader in our ever changing industry.
Applications are now open for the Future Turf Manager's Initiative 2027.
This year, the FTMI will take place in a Hybrid format, with online education sessions commencing from November 2026 and culminating in 3-days of face to face training in March 2027.
It should be noted that to be eligible for the Future Turf Managers Initiative 2027 you will need to:
* Be a current ASTMA or NZGCSA Member.
* Have at least 2 years experience working full-time (post apprenticeship) in the turf management industry
* Be currently employed at a golf course, sportsfield or in a sports turf maintenance environment, holding the position of:
* Have at least 2 years experience working full-time (post apprenticeship) in the turf management industry
* Be currently employed at a golf course, sportsfield or in a sports turf maintenance environment, holding the position of:
- Superintendent, Grounds Manager or Curator with 3 or less staff
- Assistant Sports Turf Manager / Asst. Superintendent / Asst. Grounds Manager / Asst. Curator.
- Foreman/3IC/Senior Greenkeeper or Groundstaff
* Have the full support of your employer and manager to take part in the program

- Please ensure you pay attention to detail and content as both are part of the judging criteria.
2. Advise your manager that they will be receiving a commitment form for them to complete and return.
