Keeping North Wales a safe place to work, live and visit is the biggest concern for the North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner. Your views are important in helping the Commissioner determine the budget for 2026/27, specifically whether the precept should increase. The precept is the part of the Council Tax which pays for policing in your area.

Your feedback will be used to inform the Commissioner's discussions with the Chief Constable in agreeing the precept with the Police and Crime Panel for North Wales.

Please submit your response by midnight 19 December 2025
1.Do you pay Council Tax or Business Rates?
2.The Police and Crime Commissioner has to present a balanced budget over the period of the Medium-Term Financial Plan (MTFP), which is the name for the budget plan that we work to.

Based on our current assumptions regarding government grant, a council tax increase of £21.50 per annum is needed to create a standstill budget in real terms. However, the PCC is mindful of current pressures on household budgets and would like to know what level of council tax increase you would support.

These following options give an idea of what different increases in council tax will mean for the budget for policing. Please could you indicate what level of council tax increase you would choose for 2026/27.

The exact Precept amount that is set may change according to the level of funding provided by the UK Government. This funding will be announced later in the year but is not available at the time of this survey being put together.

The PCC is legally required to set a balanced budget and no increase at all would mean significant cuts being required. From the options below what would you choose as an acceptable increase in the Precept?
3.If Council Tax were to increase by 48p pence per week, this would provide funding for additional service improvements. Which of the following areas among the PCC’s three key overall priorities for policing do you think should be prioritised for investment if an increase in the Precept is agreed?

Choose up to 6 options from the full list below.
4.How much would you agree or disagree that the Police in your community are dealing with the things that matter in the area?
5.How much would you agree or disagree that you have confidence in the Police in your community?
6.How much would you agree or disagree that Police in your community can be relied on to be there when you need them?
