Ready to make waves? Apply to speak at the 2027 BIA Conference.

The Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) is pleased to announce that the Call for Speakers is officially open for the 2027 BIA Conference, presented by Visit Oakville and hosted by Kerr Village BIA, taking place April 25-28, 2027 at the Oakville Conference Centre.

The 2027 theme is "Making Waves on Main Streets: Fostering Momentum Across Ontario."

This year’s theme celebrates the people, ideas and partnerships creating movement in communities across the province. Like Ontario’s waterways, our Main Streets are connectors. They carry ideas, investment, culture and community forward. And just as a single ripple can build momentum far beyond where it began, the work happening in one BIA or community can inspire change across Ontario. 2027 also marks 57 years since the creation of the world’s first BIA right here in Ontario.

Key Theme Pillars to Inspire Your Submission
We are seeking interactive sessions and workshops that align with one or more of these theme-related pillars:
1. Anchored in Purpose
BIA governance, leadership and the evolving role of BIAs
Honouring Main Street identity, history and community values

2. Creating Momentum

Member engagement, marketing, technology and data-informed decision-making
Turning ideas into action and demonstrating meaningful impact
3. Making Waves Through Connection

Cross-sector collaboration and capacity-building for BIA boards and staff
Sharing successful ideas and approaches that can inspire Main Streets across Ontario
4. Main Streets for Everyone

Engaging diverse voices and strengthening community belonging
Addressing the unique opportunities and challenges of urban, suburban, small-town and rural Main Streets

Speaker Expectations & Benefits
We’re seeking engaging, practical, and interactive sessions that deliver five key takeaways tied to the theme and pillars above. Please avoid sales-driven presentations.
