Applicant Information

The Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (FCAAP) Florida Pediatric Foundation (FPF) is offering two $2,000 scholarships for first- and second-year residents enrolled in a Florida pediatric residency program to attend the AAP Advocacy Conference, being held in person April 12-14, 2026, in Arlington, VA! The FPF 2026 scholarship includes conference registration and funds towards travel to Arlington, VA. You must be a resident member of FCAAP to apply. Past recipients are ineligible to apply.

What are the expectations?
Winners must register for the conference by Friday, January 30, 2026.

Participants can use the scholarship funds to cover their conference registration fee as well as some of the cost of hotel, flight, and additional meals. Most meals are provided during the conference. Participants can choose to stay at the host hotel (Crystal Gateway Marriott, 1700 Richmond Highway, Arlington, VA 22202) or at a nearby hotel of their own choosing. The host hotel room block closes Friday, March 13, 2026. Book early for best rates!

The AAP will schedule meetings for attendees with their State congressional offices, which the scholarship winners are expected to attend. Applicants are also expected to identify an advocacy partner in their local area or institution who they anticipate partnering with for future advocacy efforts. Examples of advocacy partners include, but are certainly not limited to, AAP Chapters, state/local governmental organizations (eg, health departments), disability and family advocacy organizations (eg, Family Voices), or academic institutions or programs/centers within those institutions (eg, LEND programs).

Each winner will be paired with a member of the FCAAP leadership team for support before, during, and after the conference. Scholarship recipients will be expected to share their experience within 4 months (eg, writing an article for the FCAAP News or hosting a presentation within their community with a copy to be sent to FCAAP). Applications will be judged on the candidate’s commitment to further advocacy efforts beyond the Advocacy Conference. Applicants who describe a plan with their local partners or with FCAAP for active collaborations after the conference will be given priority.
