Structure of each roadmap
Each roadmap follows a six-chapter structure. The questions in this consultation are organised around the same logic.
• Chapter 1 — Description of the sector. Defines the segment, its scope, market characteristics and strategic role in the European waterborne ecosystem.
• Chapter 2 — Drivers and constraints. Identifies the policy, market and technology drivers and the structural constraints and bottlenecks shaping the segment.
• Chapter 3 — Target capabilities. Sets the capabilities the segment must achieve by 2035, 2040 and 2050, as indicated in the Waterborne Technology Leadership document.
• Chapter 4 — Technological pathways. Translates target capabilities into concrete RD&I, upscaling and deployment pathways.
• Chapter 5 — Key enablers and deployment. Identifies the regulatory, financial, infrastructural, industrial and skills enablers required to move pathways from research to deployment.
• Chapter 6 — Expected impact. Describes the economic, environmental, social and technological outcomes for the segment because of the implementation of the roadmap.
