ABS National Nursing Survey

We are inviting you to take part in this national survey designed to build a clearer understanding of the scope, complexity and variety of nursing roles in breast care in the UK and Ireland.

At a time of significant change and growing pressure across the healthcare system, it is more important than ever to understand how nursing within the breast specialty is evolving, and what support is needed to sustain and protect the nursing workforce.

As roles continue to diversify, and as expectations and workloads shift, it becomes increasingly difficult to ensure fair job planning, appropriate banding and sustainable workforce development.

By sharing your experiences, you will help us collect valuable national data that will highlight key challenges, identify areas of need and support efforts to raise awareness of the realities faced by nurses working in breast care. The findings will be published and may also help inform the future development of a national framework to define, support and strengthen nursing roles in the specialty. All published findings will be anonymised.

The survey may take up to 30 minutes to complete. We understand your time is valuable, and we greatly appreciate your input - your insights are essential to making sure nursing voices are heard and understood at a national level. All participants will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher.

As part of the survey, you will be asked to provide information on the whole-time equivalent (WTE) staffing within your unit. This includes Surgeons, Breast Care Nurses (BCNs), Navigators, Cancer Care Coordinators, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs)/Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), and Nurse Consultants. If you do not have this information readily available, we recommend gathering it in advance and sharing it with relevant colleagues to support accurate and efficient completion of the survey.

Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this important work.
