The Indiana Public Health Association (IPHA), with funding from the Region V Public Health Training Center (RVPHTC), is seeking one student intern for the Summer 2026 semester that will be placed at the Dearborn County Health Department.

The intern will be supervised by health department staff. Internships must begin in May 2026.

The internship description is outlined HERE. Eligibility and internship requirements are listed below.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Full- or part-time students that come from any academic institution in Indiana
  • Graduate, doctoral, and undergraduate (junior/senior) students pursuing a degree in a health profession (public health, nursing, social work, psychology, or sociology)
  • Tribal Community College students enrolled in a health professions degree program (e.g., allied health, community health worker) are eligible
  • U.S. citizens, non-citizen U.S. nationals, or foreign nationals holding a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States (Note: Proof of citizenship will be required to process your stipend payment. DACA recipients and international students with work/research/student visas are not eligible for this particular federal funding)

Internship Requirements:
  • Undergraduate interns must complete a minimum of 150 hours, and graduate interns must complete a minimum of 200 hours
  • Interns must submit pre- and post-evaluations, as well as a one-year follow-up survey through RVPHTC
  • Interns must submit a deliverable to RVPHTC
  • Interns are encouraged to participate in the Practicing Public Health in Region V Community of Practice

The intern will receive a stipend of $3,500 through funding from the Region V Public Health Training Center (RVPHTC).
