Having previously taught at the collegiate level, Dr. Epting offers a plethora of historical education experience to the Spring Hill Social Studies department and serves as an awesome instructional resource with her attention to detail and her ability to help relate the historical content to her students. Aside from her amazing work within the classroom, Dr. Epting is also very active outside of the classroom. Within the school community, she volunteers her time supporting Spring Hill’s Multimedia Gaming Club which meets monthly after school and provides students with an opportunity to unwind with their fellow classmates over various types of gaming where they compete in tournaments and fun contests. Outside of the school, Dr. Epting has presented at various educational conferences where she helps to provide insight and discovery into a multitude of topics that teachers at all levels can learn from and apply into their classrooms. Most recently, Dr. Epting presented at the 2025 H-Net Conference where she discussed the topic of Pedagogy in an Age of Uncertainty: AI, Inclusive Teaching, and the Politics of Knowledge. Dr. Epting is extremely devoted to her craft as an historian as well as continuously developing her classroom environment to meet the needs of all of her students, no matter academic level or ability. I highly recommend Dr. Epting for this honor as she truly is a History All Star and deserves to be recognized for work progressing historical education and encouraging lifelong learning inside and outside of the classroom.

Emily Lindsay - Brennan Elementary School - Columbia, SC

In a world where education is not always seen as important and teachers are not always praised enough, it is important that teachers have a community with each other. We need people to go to when times are low and people who will celebrate our success. We need teachers who are there to listen to each other and keep each other going. Since I moved to Columbia 2 years ago, I have found that teacher bond with Emily Lindsay. Even though we do not work at the same school, we still rely on each other as “teacher support” and bounce ideas off of one another. I know that I would not be the teacher that I am in Columbia without her support and guidance. Not only is she a supportive teacher friend, she is also a steady support system for her kindergarteners. I know through our conversations that she has the best heart for teaching 5 year olds and cares so much about each and every one of her students. Kindergarten is an important year to build foundation skills for every learn. She goes above and beyond to try and help each of her students grow. Her students feel welcomed, cared for and safe in her classroom everyday. Even though I don’t get to see her teach everyday, there are so many students and parents who rave about her and are so appreciative to have her. As a middle school teacher, I still hear from the students about how Mrs . Lindsay was the best teacher. While many educators give up in their first few years of teaching, Mrs. Lindsay has stuck with it and strives to be better every year. To be at the same school for so many years tells a lot about her dedication to her school and students. She wants to make the community she lives in a better place by making sure her kids know that they are loved and they have the foundation they need for their future. A supportive friend, an exceptional teacher, and a role model - Mrs. Lindsay embodies everything that makes a teacher worthy of recognition. She is a huge asset to her teacher friends, school, and community.

Alex Nees - Banks Trail Middle School - Fort Mill, SC

Alex Nees consistently goes above and beyond to educate, inspire, and encourage his students. As a 6th grade science teacher, Mr. Nees brings energy and passion to the classroom every day. He takes the time to design engaging, hands-on lessons that not only teach core scientific concepts but also spark genuine excitement and curiosity in his students. His goal is not just to teach science, but to make students love learning it. What truly sets Mr. Nees apart is the way he invests in his students beyond the classroom. He builds strong, lasting relationships by getting to know each student individually, understanding their interests, strengths, and challenges. This personal connection helps him support their academic and personal growth in meaningful ways. Mr. Nees also extends his impact through coaching—leading middle school track and high school cross country. His continued involvement with students as they move on to higher grades helps him maintain those relationships and serve as a consistent, positive presence in their lives. Beyond his work with students, Mr. Nees is also a team player among his colleagues. He is always willing to step in and support fellow teachers, offering advice, encouragement, or simply a helping hand when needed. His inclusive and kind nature makes him a beloved member of the school community. Mr. Nees’s dedication, creativity, and compassion make him a true role model for both students and staff. He doesn’t just teach—he inspires, mentors, and uplifts everyone around him. For these reasons and more, Alex Nees is a standout educator and a deserving nominee for FSI Teacher of the Month—and even Teacher of the Year.

Malik Goodman - Edgewood Middle School - Ninety Six, SC

It is a true joy to work alongside my friend and coworker, Malik Goodman. Every day, Malik brings energy, love, and dedication not only to his eighth-grade math class, but to our entire school community. Simply put, he is a dynamic teacher who inspires students and staff alike. Malik connects with kids on a level that is rare and remarkable. Whether he’s giving high fives, skipping down the hall with students, or wrapping them in a hug, he makes each child feel special, valued, and loved. Though he teaches eighth grade, his impact stretches across all grades—from sixth graders to high school students—ensuring that no student feels overlooked. He treats every single one with equal care, attention, and joy. What makes Malik even more inspiring is that his presence doesn’t end in the classroom. He shows up everywhere: at graduation ceremonies, sports games, beauty pageants, and every event in between. His dedication goes beyond academics; it’s about building community and showing students that they matter in every aspect of their lives. And just as he invests in students, he pours the same energy into his colleagues. Malik’s kindness, encouragement, and youthful spirit lift up the staff as much as the student body. He is brilliant, compassionate, and destined for great things, yet remains grounded in his love for people. Our school is brighter because of him.

Chad Richardson - Piedmont High School - Monroe, NC

Major Chad Richardson is the JROTC Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Piedmont HS. He also accepts students from Piedmont Middle and Porter Ridge HS. Major Richardson has a passion towards seeing his Cadets achieve their fullest potential. He is involved in nearly every aspect of the school and is a staunch advocate for every student that he comes into contact with. When a student is struggling, he will seek out the resources that will aid the student and ensure that they are getting the help and assistance they need to be successful. Major Richardson's impact has not only changed the lives of his students, but of other students that he comes into contact with. They feel comfortable asking him questions about his military career and discovering new opportunities they may have never explored. Prior to becoming a high school JROTC instructor, Major Richardson was a Senior ROTC instructor at Duke University were he trained young adults how to lead and become the future leaders of our military. Major Richardson is a true servant leader! He is active in his community and often puts in countless hours for those around him. Major Richardson deserves this recognition for everything he does for those that come into contact with him each and every day!

Eliza Delmacio - Winget Park Elementary School - Charlotte, NC

We jokingly refer to Eliza as our "fearless leader" in the 3rd grade at WPES. She is not only an incredible coworker, but works tirelessly as a mentor, coach, and friend. She consistently goes above and beyond at school to troubleshoot not only her own, but the collective issues on our team. She celebrates our highs and walks with us through our lows. She is such a light and truly an inspiration to not only myself as a young educator, but to our entire school of veteran and beginning teachers. She leads PLCs, she starts book clubs, she supports our social committee, and even took on an MCL role while still working almost full time in her classroom. She creates the most warm and inviting learning environment for her students. She is constantly looking for new ways to support their needs and find ways to get them to their highest potential, all while sharing these incredible resources so that we can do the same for other students. I cannot say enough good things about her, and neither can her students on a day to day basis.

Erin McNair - Marlboro Academy - Bennettsville, SC

Erin always goes the extra mile for her students. She was teaching full time but needed to take care of children at home and had to resign from the full-time job she loved so much. She is now starting over at a part-time job with not many available resources for a private school trying to keep tuition at a minimal amount as possible. Erin does not know how to work part-time and will give her time to the students without pay and share the resources she has earned by giving back to the students and school. Erin has often assisted with a financial burden without blinking an eye when she hears of someone in need. (No one knows this about her.) She is always doing for others and finds it hard to have others do for her. I know she needs this recognition because of her huge heart, her love for others, and her love for the gift the Lord has given her to share with others. Help me show her that she is not going unnoticed by recognizing Erin McNair as a Teacher All-Star! Thank you for your consideration!!

Ann O'Brien - Asheville Middle School - Asheville, NC

Ms. O'Brien is a teacher who truly makes a lasting impact on her students by going above and beyond to connect with each of them personally and fostering meaningful connections among them. She transforms learning into a hands-on experience that inspires students to become both self-reliant and community-minded. By recognizing the unique strengths of every student, she celebrates their growth—even in the smallest details—encouraging them to believe in their potential. Her classroom radiates with a balance of joy and accountability, creating an environment where students feel supported, motivated, and empowered to thrive together.

Shane Maisonet - McGee's Crossroads Middle School - Benson, NC

Mr. Maisonet was my daughter's 7th grade math teacher. He not only taught the students materials needed for that grade level, but also incorporated concepts that prepared them for the future. My daughter was able to succeed the following year, in her high school level math course, because of the skills she learned in his class. Mr. Maisonet made learning fun and even created math YouTube videos to help the students gain additional practice! He actively taught and explained the material thoroughly. Mr. Maisonet seemed to genuinely care about his students' education and was willing to go above and beyond to help them excel!

Sue Willis - Covenant Classical School - Concord, NC

Ms. Willis cares deeply about her students, including my daughter, Emerson. She is nice, funny, and likes to laugh along with the class. Ms. Willis makes learning fun and incorporates stories of her adventures all around the world to inspire, challenge, and entertain her students. Most of them, including Emerson, have never been overseas and Ms. Willis expands their minds to think of the possibilities they had never considered for themselves previously. Most importantly, she knows the Bible well and imparts her love and knowledge of Jesus to them on a daily basis. She's an All-Star teacher!
