Oral Health and Intellectual and Development Disabilities (ID/DD) Survey - Oral Healthcare Providers |
Dental care is the number one unmet need among adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). This unmet need often results in these individuals having poor oral health, with dental needs that are more severe than for individuals without ID/DD.
To address this unmet need in Nevada, expanded dental services have been temporarily added to the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ID) Waiver. This is different than the types of services Nevada Medicaid typically provides for adults with ID/DD, which currently only includes emergency extractions, palliative care, and removable prosthesis with prior authorization. Expanded dental services are only for individuals ages 21 and older on the ID Waiver.
The purpose of the survey is to identify the barriers Providers face in meeting the needs of and providing care for this population. The inormation you provide will help to improve access to dental care and oral health services for Nevadans with disabilities. It will be used to develop training for the dentists and oral hygienists in Nevada to help meet the unmet needs and preferences of people with disabilities.
Any information you provide will be held in the strictest confidence and no names or identifying information will be reported in any data analysis. If you are taking this survey after one of Every Smile Matters' training and CE events, please add your name at the end of the survey the way you would like to see it represented on your certificate for credit, as well as your email, so we can email the certificate to you. Your name and email will not be identified with any of the answers to these survey questions, and will only be used to send your certificate to you. If you have not attended a training event, the survey will skip you past those event related questions.
