With funding from The Lemelson Foundation and under the umbrella of the signature Engineering for One Planet (EOP) Framework, ASEE (American Society for Engineering Education) has launched a Mini-Grant Program (MGP) aligned with transforming US higher education. The EOP Framework was developed to equip engineers with skills, knowledge and understanding to protect the planet and the life it sustains.

Please review the program goals and requirements and the EOP Framework before submitting your application.

The ultimate goal of the Mini-Grant Program is to incentivize faculty to take on and follow through on curricular change initiatives aimed at infusing sustainability in programming by supporting faculty teams with a Community of Practice, mentoring and mini-grant funding. The bulk of activity will take place Summer 2023 for course modifications in Fall 2023. Consider registering for the EOP Online Symposium (which will take place Wednesday, January 25, 1-2pm ET) to learn about the projects from the inaugural cohort of this program.

We are asking for demographic and institutional information to track representation in this program and to prioritize Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice.

The deadline for submitting this application is Friday, February 3, 2023.

Question Title

* 1. It is the intent of the program sponsor, The Lemelson Foundation, to fund curricular change initiatives that accelerate the infusion of environmental and social sustainability in college programs. If you are selected as an awardee of a mini-grant, then funds will be disbursed to your institution, who will then make them available to you. To optimize impact, we have adopted the funder's policy of limiting institutions to taking a maximum of 15% indirect from the mini-grant funding. If you are selected as an awardee, then please acknowledge that you will agree to this policy below.

Question Title

* 2. Research indicates that working as part of a team results in greater curricular transformation than individual efforts alone. While you will be assumed to be the Team Lead or PI by completing this application, you will be expected to secure additional team members to support you in your EOP change initiative.
