A nature rich landscape is beneficial for everyone but there has been increasing recognition nationally of a biodiversity crisis. We need to work together to address this decline in species groups and improve the condition of habitats. To support this work the Government has introduced Local Nature Recovery Strategies. The Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Strategy is one of 48 across England. The strategies encourage partnership working and offer options and guidance.

The Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) is a statutory document as set out in the Environment Act, 2021. It requires each county to develop its own strategy. Shropshire Council is the Responsible Authority for developing the LNRS for Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. Telford & Wrekin Council and Natural England act as Supporting Authorities within the process. Other partners include town and parish councils, farmers and land owners, farm advisory businesses and a range of other experts.

The draft Strategy is a result of collaborative effort but you may identify things that you feel could be added or improved. The strategy has two broad parts:
A written document outlining opportunities and priorities for what, where and how we can enhance nature across the county
A map of actions that can act as a guide to delivery showing where would have the most impact for nature

Please take a few moments to complete the survey below and provide your feedback before a final version of the strategy is approved.
