Twin Cities Memorial Highway Planning & Environment Linkages Study

The City of North Tonawanda has begun a planning study to examine the redesign of the approximately 1.2 mile stretch of the Twin Cities Memorial Highway (NYS Route 425) from Sweeney Street to Leonhardt Street and a 1.1 mile stretch of the adjacent Division Street. This study was initiated due to aging infrastructure and deficiencies along this segment of the Twin Cities Memorial Highway.

This survey has been sent to residents and business owners on Division Street to gather feedback on the initial concepts that have been developed as part of the study, some of which include substantial changes to Division Street. We greatly appreciate your input and feedback and look forward to working with you on this important project for the community.
1.Some of the initial concepts would convert Division Street to a two-way street. Currently, Division Street is one-way in the northbound direction.

Does the one-way circulation work for you, or would you prefer a traditional two-way street, if possible?
(Required.)
2.If you would like to explain your answer to the question above, please do so below:
3.In response to public comment, we are considering a range of strategies to reduce speeding and aggressive driving throughout the project corridor, including for Division Street.

Would you be willing to spend a few extra minutes getting to your destination in exchange for less speeding/aggressive driving on Division Street?
(Required.)
4.If you would like to explain your answer to the question above, please do so below:
5.Some of the initial concepts would retain portions of Division Street as a non-continuous residential frontage road, with short dead-end stubs at key locations to prevent Division from being used as a through-street bypass, as shown in the image below.

Do you like this idea?
(Required.)
6.If you would like to explain your answer to the question above, please do so below:
7.Some of the initial concepts would combine the Twin Cities Memorial Highway and Division Street into one road. Under these concepts, residential and/or commercial driveways would connect directly to Twin Cities Memorial Highway.

How would this change affect your property or daily routine? Please explain.
(Required.)
8.The study is considering strategies to increase access and safety for pedestrians and cyclists, including a north-south multi-use trail along the Twin Cities Memorial Highway.

What are your thoughts on increasing access and safety for pedestrians and cyclists? What local or regional destinations would you or your neighbors access by foot or by bike? Please explain.
(Required.)
9.Is there anything else you would like the study team to know?
